Activities for Toot and Puddle Books


I am so excited to be a part of Poppins Book Nook this year!  It is such a perfect fit for our family and my vision for this blog.  This month's theme was Where in the World? We headed to the library and chose a ton of fiction and non-fiction books that were related to the theme.  The Toot and Puddle books we chose were by far C's favorites! We had a lot of fun with this theme.  Keep reading for ideas that go with each book.


Ideas for Toot & Puddle by Holly Hobbie 

  • Print a world map and place a sticker on all the places Toot visited.
  • Read non-fiction books about the places Toot visited.
  • Write postcards to loved ones.

Ideas for Toot & Puddle: Wish You Were Here by Holly Hobbie

  • Paint a pig that has Violet Virus and write a caption of either your favorite part of the story or what you would do to help Toot get better.
  • Go for a walk and look for flowers
  • Design a new flower and come up with a cool name for it.

Ideas for Toot's Tour of India

  • Read non-fiction books about India
  • Find India on a map
  • Sample Indian Spices (We sampled them on rice.)

  • Elephant Craft - C chose to sew an elephant!

We used the pattern found here, she decided not to include the saddle.  Sewing projects are pretty new for us so I helped her as needed but she did a great job!  To stuff our little elephant I just used cotton balls since I keep forgetting to buy stuffing.  She loves her little elephant and I love that she thought up a sewing project to accompany our book!  I wanted to do a simple paper craft and she thought up sewing on her own.
