What Happened to Bilingual Homeschool?

I am consistently surprised at the number of page views this blog gets considering I haven't posted in quite awhile.  I apologize for my lack of consistency.  The reason I haven't posted is because we haven't been doing much with Spanish lately.  C hasn't been very interested.  I haven't made any printables because I'm afraid they won't be used.  I still want to get some Spanish learning into our day but I need to come up with a new way to do it.

Hopefully, you will still see some Spanish ideas and resources on this blog but I have decided to have a new focus both with this blog and our school work in general.  I have decided to focus on JOY.  My greatest desire for our homeschool is that C discovers the joy in learning.  I know that every lesson, every day will not necessarily be filled with joy.  The point is to try and focus on making learning joyful and find what works for her.

C is 5 and technically a kindergartener but you will see that a lot of what I post will not be at a "kindergarten level."  That is because when she finds something interesting I have found that she is able and enjoys working at a higher level.  Most of the time, animals are what she finds most interesting.

I have a lot of exciting ideas for posts coming up including:

  • Why we chose to try a Virtual School this year and why we are already changing our minds

  • A huge set of printables to go along with Peterson Field Guides For Young Naturalists: Birds of Prey

  • Our Calendar Time printables
I hope that you come back and join in on our journey to find joy in our school time!

  2. I use you tube for foreign language learning. My kids learn so much from cartoons. We also play a lot of games. I use what they enjoy. Classical academic press has the cutest cartoons. Headadventureland.com my kids enjoy that too. Most Disney movies have a Spanish version it's a great way to learn. I do very little printables. I get a lot of ideas from pinterest. My kids are learning 6 languages simple because they enjoy it.

  3. My kids love languages! We rarely use printables. We do watch Disney movies and youtube clips and play games in the target language of the day. Blessings
