Outside School
We had a fun week! We started out with an outside school day. We took our Calvert book work outside and we also did some extra hands on learning. I try to have at least one outside school day a week - it is so nice to get outside and have a change of pace!
Our Calvert Math is focusing on shapes right now, this is a skill C has already mastered, but we are using this time as review and focusing on fun with shapes instead of doing every assigned worksheet. Here, we tried to find as many shapes on the playground as could! There were so many cylinders - the shapes pictured were C's favorites.
We also did some number bond work with wood chips as manipulatives.
Learning at the Farm
Today we had a field trip to a local farm. C had so much fun!
1. Working in the children's garden
2. Tasting raw, local honey
3. Planting a seed
C was able to grind corn to make chicken feed - afterward we fed it to the chickens!
Later she was able to climb aboard an old 1930s tractor.
We also spent a lot of time at the library this week. C wanted to be a big girl and search for books and sit in an area by herself this week. At our library, kids have to be a bit older to be aloud to peruse the library without a parent - so I compromised and sat back a little from where she sat so she can feel like a big kid. I snuck over and took a picture - I was caught and she said, " I thought you were going to stay over there!"
