Here's what we've been up to:
We had a wonderful Christmas. I am thrilled with the gifts C got this year. In years passed, I always gave in to the thoughts that "educational" gifts wouldn't be fun. Finally after years of packing up Christmas gifts for Goodwill because she rarely plays with them, I decided to get her things that could double as school items. Here are her favorite things so far, click on the image to view items on Amazon.com.
1. Super Magnet LabC and her daddy have hada blast exploring with these! |
2. Stretch & Match Geoboard
C has enjoyed using this set
during quiet time.
|
3. TinkerToy Big Top Set
C was so excited to build a real
spinning Ferris Wheel!

Another big hit was this Build It Yourself Woodworking Kit from Lakeshore. She has built three of the projects so far: A plane, birdhouse and a mail sorter.
We had a great time at the zoo last week. It was a nice, mild weathered day, the animals were more active than normal. We got to see the gorilla climbing on the ladder, hear lions and watch a tiger come right up to the window! It was nice to see the animals do more than nap!
New Year's Eve was so much fun! C loved the countdown activities. Her favorite by far was the DIY balloon drop! Even though it was hours past her bedtime, she still fought going to bed because she had so much fun with the balloons.
Are you back to school yet? I'd love to hear the highlights of your Christmas break in the comments below! Thanks so much for visiting Joy Focused Learning!

That woodworking kit looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteIt is, the only thing I wish it had is pre-drilled holes. It is a little hard for C to hammer in the nails. She gets it done though!
DeleteHi Angela, I love the new blog look. :) I also love that you went to the zoo. I love going to the zoo, I need to plan a winter trip and spend all day in the aquarium :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! We love the zoo too - my little one can't go there enough!
