We had a full week. Doctor visits, a ton of reading and our school work kept us pretty busy! C loves the Never Girls chapter book series, whenever we check one out at the library she can't put it down until she completes the book! One day this past week she just couldn't pull herself away to start school so I decided to find a book report template and let that be her assignment for the day. She loved it! We used this book report from 123 Homeschool for Me.
Song School Spanish
I mentioned awhile back that we were blessed to win Song School Spanish at a Hip Homeschool Moms Facebook party. It was just the thing we needed to revitalize our Spanish learning time! C loves the songs and the suggested activities. One of her favorites is the Greetings Song, she loves to hide as we sing "adios" and wave as we sing "hola," even though she has known Spanish greetings for awhile she loves to sing this song!
Apologia Astronomy
Another giveaway blessing, Apologia Astronomy has been so fun for us this year! We are taking it very slowly to allow C to really absorb all of the wonderful information. We may not be finished by the end of the year but we plan to do some school during the summer anyway! To wrap up our sun lessons we made this Sun Facts display. I allowed C to choose whichever facts she wanted from what we learned. It would have to be one giant sun to include everything. I plan on making something similar for all of the lessons so we will have a beautiful display when we are finished! I got the idea for this display from a Mailbox Magazine.
Apologia Who am I?
Ok guys, let this post be a lesson to you that giveaways are worth your time! We also won the Apologia Who am I? curriculum through a giveaway hosted by Mama Jenn! I used to never win giveaways and started to get discouraged and then all of a sudden I won a handful of giveaways very close together! I am so thankful for this one in particular because every time we open it up I am blessed by what C is learning. I just love to see her contributions to her notebooking journal.
When asked what makes her special she wrote that she is a child of God.
When did God first know your name and when you would be born? When did you begin to be a part of God's plan? "Always"
Why weren't you born in ancient times or the distant future?
"God has a plan for me."
It brings joy to my soul to see my little one know that God loves her, has always and will always love her and that she is on this Earth to do something! I can't recommend this curriculum enough!
All About Spelling
I'm really not trying to rub my giveaway wins in your face, I just want to acknowledge those we won from to say thank you! At the beginning of the year I was so worried about how we would afford curriculum and slowly one by one we won things that are just perfect for us. I am so thankful to the blogs and the giveaway sponsors because it has really filled a need we had this year! We won an IEW gift certificate through a HEDUA Facebook party. I used that gift certificate to purchase All About Spelling Level 1, I have had my eye on this curriculum for quite a while now! C is really enjoying it for the most part, she loves putting cards in her mastered file and seeing her mastered file grow much larger than her review file!
She especially loved this activity where we worked on the sounds cards but instead of using a pencil and paper we used a bin of salt. After going through all 26 letters she asked to do it again!
C got a big kick out of what was left of our snowman once all the snow melted! She was also very happy to have her scarf back (it was frozen to the ground for a few days, oops!)
This isn't everything we did this week, but a few (ok, a lot) of my favorites! The biggest lesson from this post: enter giveaways! What were your favorite moments from this week? I would love to hear about them in the comments section below!
Thank you so much for visiting Joy Focused Learning!
