A couple months ago, I started a new weekly tradition with C. Each Tuesday for lunch we have a tea party. We dress nice, I make our food a little fancier and I make a pot of herbal tea. It has been so fun! We've missed a few Tuesdays here and there but we try to make it happen as often as possible. Here's what we had this week:
We had heart sandwiches since it is Valentine's Day on Friday. C loved them. I just cut heart shapes out of bread, spread peanut butter and then jelly. We don't use jelly often because we usually opt for fresh fruit instead to avoid added sugar so C was very excited to have this treat!
We have had the vegetable rolls before and they are always a winner with C. She wasn't always so willing to eat raw veggies but she enjoys them now. So if your kiddo isn't a fan, don't give up! Sometimes serving them up in a new way makes them a bit more interesting. For these we used jicama, cucumber, carrot sliced into sticks and wrapped them in romaine. I use kitchen shears to cut the leaf off the stems. The dip is this recipe from 100 Days of Real Food.
The dessert this week was super simple. Just Larabars cut with my vegetable cutters!
We love our little weekly tea parties! It is nice to just sit back and enjoy some yummy food and of course, each other's company. Do you and your kids have any weekly traditions? I would love to hear about them in the comments below!
