At the beginning of the year we did our calendar work in English and our weather work in Spanish. I chose to do it that way because C already had a good understanding of weather patterns and terminology but still needed work with dates. Now that she has gotten that down, we are starting to make Spanish a focus during our entire Calendar Time.
I decided to make a new set of colorful printables to accompany our calendar work. You will notice that the months and days are not capitalized because they are typically capitalized in Spanish. The clipart in this pack is from openclipart.org Here is what is included:
This blank calendar page has space at the top for one of the month labels. You have a few options for adding dates:
- Print a new page each month and write with a marker
- Laminate and write with a dry erase marker (We will probably do this.)
- Print, laminate (preferably) and use those for dates. If you use a magnetic dry erase board for your calendar wall you could add magnets to the back. If not, you could just use tape.
There is a cute label for each month. You could either hang all of them up near your calendar wall and just pull down the current month for the calendar or keep them in a file folder/zip lock bag and only pull out the current month's label. I will probably store them when not in use because we don't have a large space. I recommend laminating these for durability. There will be an affiliate link to the laminator we use at the bottom of this post. To attach these to the top of your calendar you could either use magnets or tape, depending on the surface you use.
I added this weather tracking printable as well. The title is in English but we will refer to the weather outside in Spanish when we add our tallies. The line is for writing the month you are tracking. We will write the month in Spanish. This page will go great with the rest of our Spanish Weather Printables!
These are the yesterday was (ayer fue), today is (hoy es) and tomorrow will be (mañana sera) cards. I laminated the pieces then I taped the yesterday was, today is and tomorrow will be cards to the dry erase board. I attached magnets to the days of the week and then C puts the days in the correct spaces. There are two pages like this in the pack. One has "mañana sera and the other "mañana es" (tomorrow is). I did that because my family says "mañana es" more often. I am teaching C to say both.
These can be cut, laminated and used to represent the dates on the calendar.
I made a new clock printable to match the color scheme of this set. I laminate this page and have C draw times on the face clock and write the matching time on the digital clock.
This number line 0-30 is labeled with the numbers in Spanish.
If you don't have the space to hang up all of the month labels at once, like me. You can hang up this sheet to practice saying the months of the year in Spanish. There is also a sheet that lists the days of the week.
I love how this pack turned out! I hope it is a great fit for your family. I have decided to offer this pack as a subscriber freebie. Subscribe to Joy Focused Learning using the form below, verify your e-mail and you will be taken to a screen with a link to the download.
I never thought to teach Spanish vocabulary while doing activities that the boys are very familiar with... Brilliant!
